Week Two activities: Concept mapping and the design cycle

My Mindomo concept map for my design challenge
This concept map is just a saved jpeg image of the map that I made. I was unable to embed this using Mindomo, so I will be trying another program that might allow me to do that, as I like the idea of making changes and these changes being updated to all sites where I have embedded it!
This is a link that I have saved, to edit my current map:

I value visual learning strategies and I find that all children in early childhood, benefit from visual learning in the classroom. Colour coding things whilst learning, actually helps store and retrieve information faster. I was told this by the creator of the MIOOW Sight words used in most schools. Online concept mapping helps students to collaboratively discuss ideas, verbalise, and visually imagine, ideas learnt in class. Concept mapping is not a 'set in stone' thing. It can be changed, moved and reinvented! I think it is valuable for students to see plans change, after new learning and discussion. I am eager to find a program that has visual clipart images and a more user friendly for early childhood teachers. The best way, is to invite children up to help in the creation of things, not just something the teacher has pre-made. Using an interactive whiteboard with the software would be the best strategy.

Here is a great concept mapping link to an early childhood page on concept mapping, with some templates to use.

Note: Popplet is a goof ECE program and is available on Ipad and PC. Powerpoint can be used and uploaded to online sites like Google Drive (Google presentations) to embed them.
